Multiple districts in Malaysia were recently hit by the worst flood in decades. Bentong district, where Austin Powder Malaysia (APMY) Bentong is located, was part of the worst-hit area. Thousands of people were evacuated to relief centers and returned to heart-wrenching devastation. Dozens of families lost their homes and belongings, including vehicles, which were either submerged in the floods or swept away by the current. The end of the year is the northeast monsoon season (from November or December until March), the primary rainy season in the country that often causes severe floods along with the east coast states of Kelantan Terengganu, Pahang, and East Johor in Peninsular Malaysia.
The APMY Bentong Project Team engaged and participated in flood relief programs in cooperation with the local authorities. The Team supplied and delivered drinking water, mattresses, blankets, pillows, towels, and house washing supplies for more than a thousand evacuees in multiple relief centers in the district. APMY Malaysia will continue to engage and assist the communities in returning to their everyday routines.
