Austin Star Detonator is located in Brownsville, Texas & Matamoros, Mexico. These facilities manufacture an array of detonator products that are distributed and used around the world.
Established in 1991 as part of the Maquiladora (IMMEX) Program, the Brownsville Shocktube plant, and its twin blasting cap manufacturing and non-electric detonator assembly plant in Matamoras, Tamp. Mexico is key to the vertical integration supply chain for Austin Powder.
Austin Star Detonator proudly combines automation and a local labor force in a way that eliminates the potential for error in production areas that require a superior level of consistency and perfection. In order to maintain the highest possible safety standards and to produce and assemble the highest quality detonators, the facility is designed so that employees will never handle highly volatile explosives in a dry state and explosive materials are moved in small, precisely measured quantities.
